When you successfully login to the Clearinghouse, a unique session ID is created by the security system. This is saved with each transaction you make in the system, both to track your activities for security reasons and to permit you to edit and manage the current batch of information more easily.

A session will time-out after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you need to conduct any further activities, you will be required to log back into the system and create a new session ID.

The 30 minute time-out always counts from your last transaction. You will be able to continue working uninterrupted in this fashion until you either LOGOUT manually (see LOGOUT below) or allow your computer to sit idle for 30 minutes.

SECURITY NOTE

• Letting the security time-out by leaving your computer idle is not a good security habit. We strongly advise you to always log out before leaving your workstation, even if for only a few minutes.

• The computer cannot tell who is using the system at any given moment. It only knows that someone with a valid login and password was successfully logged in and her access rights are still valid. Any changes made by someone else will be logged as having been done by you.
